NewAmsterdam Pharma Company N.V. (NASDAQ: NAMS) has moved an important part of its investment story from regulatory anticipation to commercial execution.

On September 21, the European Commission approved Ubeslo, containing obicetrapib, and Evlarco, a fixed-dose combination of obicetrapib and ezetimibe. The authorizations marked the first global approvals of obicetrapib and cover specified patients with primary hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia.

The supporting Phase 3 program demonstrated substantial LDL-cholesterol reductions. According to the approval announcement, reductions versus placebo reached up to 40% with monotherapy and approximately 50% with the combination. These findings establish a cholesterol-lowering proposition, while dedicated cardiovascular-outcomes evidence remains another important part of the program.

CEO Michael Davidson described the authorization as “the first regulatory approval of obicetrapib globally.”

The commercial arrangement gives shareholders a specific revenue mechanism to assess. Its European partner holds regional commercialization rights, while the company is entitled to tiered royalties ranging from the low double digits to the mid-twenties on applicable net sales. Regulatory approvals also triggered milestone payments in the mid-teens of millions of euros.

Approval, however, does not fill prescriptions by itself. Launch execution, reimbursement decisions, physician adoption, and patient persistence will determine the pace of royalty growth.

The company reported $678.3 million in cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities at June 30. Its August update also scheduled an interim PREVAIL cardiovascular-outcomes analysis for the fourth quarter, with results expected in the first quarter of 2027.

For investors assessing cardiovascular biotech stocks, the opportunity now combines an approved European product franchise with further clinical evidence that could influence its longer-term positioning.

Ranking rationale: NewAmsterdam Pharma Company N.V. (NASDAQ: NAMS) ranks ninth with 18 billionaire holders. European approvals and contractual royalty rights strengthen its investment case, while commercial uptake and cardiovascular-outcomes results remain important variables.
